Choose to watch right from your cottage!

Check the skies regularly and still enjoy other comforts like a bath, satellite TV, or reading a book in peace.

By comparison, local aurora tours charge for aurora viewing that means being picked up from a downtown hotel at 10pm and spending a few hours near a campfire before being bussed back to town.

Here is a taste of what a 3 night package stay at Sundog Retreat includes:

Day 1

We’ll welcome you at the airport and give you a guided tour to Sundog Retreat, where your private cottage awaits you under our brilliant skies outside the glare of city lights. We’ll stop at the grocery store on the way to your cottage, or you’ll have pre-arranged to have us leave menu items in your private kitchen.

Our award-winning exclusive inn provides you with friendly on-site hosts and a unique, unforgettable Yukon experience. Snacks and beverages greet your arrival, no matter what time of day or night.

Daytime wildlife sightings include deer, moose, birds, foxes and rabbits right outside your window.

When darkness falls, view our northern aurora from your cottage or from our heated aurora viewing centre, complete with outdoor campfire space. If the aurora are quiet you can enjoy a dazzling display of constellations with a telescope or your naked eye under the stars. Watch the aurora from our outdoor hot tub, or warm up from the cold in the indoor sauna. Let yourself experience the quiet of a northern night away from the city.

These aurora viewing options are available each night during your stay.

Day 2

Leave at 10am for a three hour city tour with your guide – wander on Main Street, see the 2012 healing totem pole, Visitor Reception Centre, Log Skyscraper, Sternwheeler SS Klondike, and more.

Afternoon optional tour to make the most of your time in Yukon.  Possible winter activities: dogsledding, Yukon Wildlife Preserve, Takhini Hot Springs, icefishing, snowmobiling.

Or quiet afternoon at Sundog Retreat – enjoy the hot tub, read a book.
